Un sistema automatizado para el adiestramiento y evaluacion de estudiantes de fisica ante examenes cerrados
In this work, I present an automatic system for the evaluation of closed-type
exercises in physics at the high school level or in the first year of a degree
where physics is a mandatory course. It is expected that this will allow
students or teachers with access to a computer or mobile device to get into a
repository of exercises for different areas of physics and practice them using
true or false or multiple choice options. This system is expected to solve the
problem that many students do not have enough skills to face this type of
evaluation, since they have not had the opportunity to work with closed-type
exams that are graded by computers and are used by educational institutions
such as evaluation tools. This material can also benefit teachers by providing
them with an alternative form of evaluation to the traditional form. To use
this system, computer programming skills are not required, since it consists of
a program where the answers are selected and the program provides a numerical
score, a brief interpretation, and the solutions to every exercise, which will
allow students to compare their answers with the solutions.Comment: in Spanish languag
Neotropical tadpoles: spatial and temporal distribution and habitat use in a seasonal lake in Veracruz, México
We studied a tadpole assemblage in a seasonal neotropical lake where 14 species of anurans reproduce. Tadpoles were collected monthly at nine sampling stations at depth intervals of 1 m from the surface to the bottom (13 m). Sufficient numbers of tadpoles of three species were collected to compare habitat use. This three species assemblage breed in the following order (first to last): Smilisca baudinii, Gastrophryne usta, and Rana berlandieri. R. berlandieri had the greatest microhabitat breadth followed by S. baudinii. S. baudinii and G. usta had high microhabitat overlap, but significant differences in microhabitat use were found. S. baudinii tended to occur near the bottom, while G. usta was near the surface. This study shows that temporal and habitat partitioning both occur and depend on the species of tadpole. Dynamic interactions occur between habitat and temporal dimensions. Phenology and habitat selection depend both on the species and on abiotic and biotic factors
New bounds for ternary covering arrays using a parallel simulated annealing
A covering array (CA) is a combinatorial structure specified as a matrix of N rows and k columns over an alphabet on v symbols such that for each set of t columns every t-tuple of symbols is covered at least once. Given the values of t, k, and v, the optimal covering array construction problem (CAC) consists in constructing a CA (N; t, k, v) with the minimum possible value of N. There are several reported methods to attend the CAC problem, among them are direct methods, recursive methods, greedy methods, and metaheuristics methods. In this paper, There are three parallel approaches for simulated annealing: the independent, semi-independent, and cooperative searches are applied to the CAC problem. The empirical evidence supported by statistical analysis indicates that cooperative approach offers the best execution times and the same bounds as the independent and semi-independent approaches. Extensive experimentation was carried out, using 182 well-known benchmark instances of ternary covering arrays, for assessing its performance with respect to the best-known bounds reported previously. The results show that cooperative approach attains 134 new bounds and equals the solutions for other 29 instances. © 2012 Himer Avila-George et al.The authors thankfully acknowledge the computer resources and assistance provided by Spanish Supercomputing Network (TIRANT-UV). Enzymatic preparation of structured triacylglycerides containing γ-linolenic acid
with the addition of molecular sieves (MS) at different addition times (3, 9, 12 and 15 h) and loads (2.5, 5, 10 and 15%, based on the total weight of substrates), the enrichment of GLA from evening primrose oil (EPO) and 1- butanol (BtOH) was improved via Candida rugosa lipase-catalysed esterification reactions. Secondly, the GLAenriched fraction was separated by thin-layer chromatography (TLC) to be further set to react during the third step in the presence of glycerol and Candida antarctica fraction B (CALB), under different enzyme loadings (5, 10, 15 and 20%, based on the total weight of substrates), temperatures (30, 40, 50 and 60 ◦C) and substrates molar ratios (1:1, 2:1, 3:1 and 4:1, GLA:glycerol). 60% of STAG containing 49 wt% of GLA were produced by using 15% of CALB at 60 ◦C and a 3:1 molar ratio.Conacyt: Beca no. 328716 UAEMex: Proyecto 3866/2015/PI
